Abstract:Many of the recently installed unidirectional air flow systems for operating rooms have low velocities (≤0.3m/s). Measurements of airborne aerobic colony-forming units were performed in such operating rooms during on-going surgery. Results show that, during on-going surgery, calculations with the dilution principle is valid in the surgical zone.
